The Faculty of Agriculture is the oldest institution at the Reduit Campus. It has played a vital role in providing trained human resources for the development of Agriculture in Mauritius and continues to train staff for local institutions such as The Ministry of Agriculture, The Mauritius Sugar Industry Research Institute, The Food and Agricultural Research Council and the private sector.
In meeting these objectives, the Faculty of Agriculture places emphasis on the quality if its training and the production of well trained professionals and technicians. It offers facilities for post graduate studies and a range of full time and part time courses at the degree, diploma and certificate levels. The laboratories and the University Farm provide facilities for both training and research. The Crop Museum found at the University Farm consists of a broad range of living plants of economic importance, is a unique tool for educational purposes. Academic staff of the Faculty, grouped under two departments, carry out research as well as teaching. |
