Final Year Project

All students registered for B.Eng (Hons.) course in Mechanical/ Manufacturing/ Mechatronics have to complete a Final Year project (MECH 4000) which normally spans over two consecutive semesters. The project carries 12 credits and a weightage of 5. The projects can be university based or industry based but students must ensure that they get all clearances, both from the University and the Industry, before starting a project. There must be at least one University Supervisor, even for industry based projects. The scope and objectives of the projects are very varied such as : Feasibility Studies, Energy Audits, Design and Construction, Simulation, CAD/CAM. A list of selected past projects is included for your information.

The students may help your company or organization by solving your problem as a Final Year Project (MECH 4000). We, therefore, encourage you to can contact any Academic member of the Department for a preliminary assessment of the problem.
Students are expected to prepare a synopsis and a proper programme of work which would cover the whole period over which the Project is being undertaken. The approval of the Supervisor/s is important before starting the project.

The Department does not impose any Supervisor on the students, except if the staff is proposing the project, and the students have to contact academic members of the Department to have their approval as Supervisor for a specific project. Please note that the students have to submit a “Project Submission Form” duly signed by the Supervisor together with copies of their thesis.
