Starting off to University is a big step. It is an important time in your life, a time to develop new friendships, goals, and viewpoints. Orientations Sessions are offered for new students who will be attending UoM for the first time, usually at the beginning of August prior to the start of the new academic year.

Discover UoM is the University of Mauritius new student orientation programme for the academic year 2009-2010, carefully designed to help make the journey into this new world exciting and manageable.

The Orientation Days provide the perfect opportunity for new students:

a to learn about university resources and services

a to discover involvement and educational opportunities

a to familiarize themselves with university regulations and the University community, climate, culture, traditions and

a to connect with other students.

In a nutshell, Discover UoM shows new students the ropes of being a student at UoM and this site is your guide to events at UoM's Orientation Days.

UoM orientations are led by student orientation leaders/mentors who are responsible for managing a clan (a team of 10 – 15 new students) during Orientation Days. Within this role, they deliver team building activities, guide students through key campus locations, keep their clan on schedule, coordinate events, and answer any questions new students may have about UoM.
