Role of CITS in the University and in the Community |
The role of CITS for providing University-wide IT services is to:
- Provide and manage IT and Communication infrastructure services - network, broad user support, training, teaching and learning support, high performance computing, administrative systems and information services;
- Establish standards and protocols to maintain efficient, secure, reliable IT services within and outside of the University;
- Develop and promulgate IT policies for the efficient purchasing and management of information technologies;
- Liaise with senior management on IT needs and provide advice on the potential of IT to meet those needs;
- Support initiatives, in association with academic staff, in the areas of research and teaching;
- Contribute through IT to the University's outreach efforts.

The CITS is currently organised in two departments, namely Management Information System (MIS) and IT Services (ITS). |
