CENTRE FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LIFELONG LEARNING

            WELCOME

Welcome to the Centre for Professional Development and Lifelong Learning (CPDL) website.

CPDL was set up in January 1993 to facilitate the implementation of Distance Education (DE) at the University of Mauritius (UoM), with the objective of maintaining quality and increasing enrolment at UoM. Gradually, the Centre has evolved to embrace LIFELONG LEARNING in its broadest sense: hence the Centre now designs training, in consultation with stakeholders, for ‘lifelong learners’, and the mode of delivery can range from face to face sessions to online learning.

The CPDL works closely with a team involving content experts, stakeholders, and pedagogical and technological specialists to meet the new generation of
-           learners –who need flexibility and who seek immediate pertinence and relevance in the programme in which they are involved,
and
-           employers, who need qualified staff and who are keen to contribute towards their personal and professional  development.

There are five main streams to the activities of the Centre:

  • Support Materials, for some hybrid modules which involve large cohorts of students (but delivered by face-to-face mode).
  • Off-campus Programmes, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, offering both second chance opportunities to mature learners and to professionals, in general.

       SUPPORT MATERIALS

Support materials for hybrid modules, consisting of comprehensive self-instructional notes, activities, reference list, and so on, are available to on-campus students once they register in the modules.

Upon successfully enrolling in the module, via the Online Module Registration, students get a LINK to download the support materials (as per List below).
