In line with worldwide trends, the UoM aims to optimize the use of IPR in a manner which is consistent with its objective to contribute to national development while being fair and equitable to all parties involved. In order to promote a wider use of Patent Information Services by researchers on campus, the Consultancy and Contract Research Centre puts at their disposal on the intranet a database of patent documents of Espace®Globalpat, that the Centre has acquired with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
The Espace®Globalpat Classified Collection of patent documents represents a most comprehensive patent library for any university/institution/company and contains nearly all the world’s patent literature since 1971. It comprises searchable bibliographic data in English, usually published on the front page of a patent document, including bibliographic text, title, abstract and, where appropriate, a representative drawing.
Patent Information Services may be used for the following purposes:
-
Provide technological information for research
-
Provide solutions to technical problems
-
Facility search for information in a specific field Avoid the risk of R&D duplication
