What is an MPhil/PhD?

Many of you have probably heard about higher degrees such as MPhil (Master of Philosophy) and PhD (Doctor of Philosophy). Such degrees enable students to improve and deepen their knowledge in a specific field and most importantly instill and nurture the necessary skills for high level research and analysis. You may wish to note that such studies are available in both Full and Part Time mode. Students can undertake in-depth research studies in different sectors and areas including Agriculture, Engineering, Science, ICT, Business, Finance, Law, Humanities and Social Sciences among others. The DS and UoM particularly encourage students to embark on research related to the SDGs (https://sdgs.un.org). The research study conducted will culminate in the form of a thesis which will contribute to knowledge (academic impact) and will have socio-economic impacts.
