Study Group Tour of Nanjing University at Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius
On 19 August, an 11-member study tour group from Nanjing University, led by Professor Zhang Zhenke and Associate Professor Liu Litao of its Institute of African Studies, visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius. They held a symposium with Co-Directors, Mr Naraindra Kistamah and Mrs. Yang Fang, and African studies expert Professor Marie-Françoise Driver, reaching consensus on academic cooperation, interdisciplinary research, and youth exchanges. Students shared fieldwork observations on various topics, from social coexistence and environmental protection to marine resources and fisheries management.
Professor Driver presented the University's achievements in African regional research and proposed joint studies with Nanjing University on climate change, the blue economy, food security, and AI applications. Professor Zhang Zhenke encouraged deeper China-Africa academic engagement, while Dr. Kistamah welcomed future return visits for in-depth research collaboration. The visit established an institutionalized channel for Sino-Mauritian academic exchange and injected new vitality into higher-education cooperation between the two countries.
