On January 19, 2024, a delegation of six people led by official Dai Aiping from the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius (CI-UoM). The meeting was attended by Associate Professor Naraindra Kistamah and Professor Fu Mingduan, the two Directors and two Mandarin teachers of CI UoM.Dr. Naraindra Kistamah, the Mauritian Director of CI UoM, welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for Zhejiang Province's long-standing support and assistance to the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius. Fu Mingduan, the Chinese Director, provided an overview of the historical development, Chinese language teaching, cultural activities, academic exchanges, as well as future development plans and prospects of the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius. The two directors both mentioned that the Confucius Institute will continue to dedicate to local Chinese language teaching and promote cultural exchanges between China and Mauritius.
Official Dai Aiping gained an in-depth understanding of the operational mechanisms and teaching methods of the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius and she expressed affirmation and praise for the work done by the Confucius Institute in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Mauritius. The two sides then had specific discussions on potential cooperation between the University of Mauritius and the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government. In addition, both parties expressed strong desires to maintain long-term, friendly cooperation through the platform of the Confucius Institute, fostering ongoing communication and exchanges.
