In the past three years, under the joint effort of the two CI Directors, Associate Professor Naraindra Kistamah and Associate Professor Tan Xudong, together with the teachers and students, CI-UoM has developed into an Institute of 12 faculty members, with approximately 800 students studying Mandarin presently. CI-UoM development has been sharp and it has provided scope for people in Mauritius to learn more about Chinese language and culture. In addition, it serves as a platform for cultural exchanges between China and Mauritius as well as a bridge reinforcing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
In the future, CI-UoM will continue to devote itself to satisfying the demands of people in Mauritius who wish to learn Chinese language and deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, and enhancing cultural exchanges between China and Mauritius. We will adopt flexible teaching patterns and adapt our pedagogical tools to local conditions for the teaching of Chinese language and promoting culture. In addition, CI-CoM will radiate its influence to other areas from the center at UoM with more teaching sites in Mauritius, set up HSK and examination center as well as scholarship management system so that more and more people can have access to Chinese language and Chinese culture. We sincerely hope to strengthen the educational and cultural exchanges, and collaborative ties between China and Mauritius.
