The World Chinese Language Conference took place in Beijing from 14-16 Nov 2025. The conference, themed “Innovation Leads, AI Empowers: Learning Chinese Without Borders,” was hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), the Chinese International Education Foundation (CIEF), and the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching (ISCLT). The conference featured keynote speeches by Ministers and Head of Institutions, forums led by experts and Directors of CIs, and exhibitions by Chinese universities and companies in the field of Chinese Language Teaching and Learning. The conference was well attended with representatives from educational institutions across numerous countries. Dr Naraindra Kistamah, Mauritian Director, and Mrs Yang Fang, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius, participated in the event.
At the opening ceremony, Mr Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau and Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China, gave a keynote speech. He emphasized the importance of language as a bridge for mutual understanding, friendship, and intercultural exchange.
The Directors participated in parallel sessions of various forums which discussed topics such as: ‘AI Empowering New Pathways in International Chinese Language Education’, ‘Building Borderless Online and Offline Integrated Chinese Language Learning Ecosystem’, ‘Enhancing Digital Literacy and Competencies for International Chinese Language Teachers’, ‘Construction of Localized Chinese Language Education System in Digital Intelligence Era’, ‘Application and Practice of Digital Intelligence at CI’, and ‘Chinese Films and Games Going Global and Language-Culture Communication’.
It was also a good opportunity for both Directors to meet peers, connect with other Directors they met at in-training workshops/seminars and further their networks.
