On 20 July 2026, the "Vanilla Tour" China–Africa Cooperation Research Team from Tsinghua University visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius. The local Director Dr. Naraindra Kistamah and Chinese Director Mrs. Yang Fang warmly welcomed the delegation and held discussions with the visiting students.

The delegation, comprising of 11 Hong Kong students, one faculty supervisor, and one researcher, shared their impressions of Mauritius' multicultural society and its growing role in China–Africa cooperation. Dr. Kistamah introduced the development of Chinese language education in Mauritius and encouraged the students to gain a deeper understanding of the African and Indian Ocean regions through their research. Mrs. Yang highlighted the increasing interest in learning Chinese among Mauritians and the role of Chinese films and television in promoting cultural exchange.

The visit formed part of the team's research programme in Mauritius and Madagascar from 19 July to 1 August 2026. It provided valuable insights into Chinese language education and culture in Mauritius while further strengthening academic and cultural exchanges between China and Mauritius.
