Launch of the 2019 Summer Camp of CI-UoM Students in China by the Vice Chancellor of UoM

On 10th June 2019, the opening ceremony of Summer Camp, 2019 was held. The Vice-chancellor of UoM, Professor Dhanjay Jhurry, the two Directors of Confucius Institute and 19 CI-UoM students were gathered in the Council Room of the University.

The VC welcomed all participants and said that opportunity comes to those who are prepared for it, and that the learning of Mandarin language gives the students a great opportunity to experience cultural and educational exchanges with their counterparts in China. He hopes that the participants to the summer camp can be ambassadors who would promote exchanges and friendship between the two countries.

The CI-UoM students were selected based on class attendance, their performance in Mandarin learning and participation in CI-UoM activities. The summer camp, 11th-27th June 2019, is one of the exchange programs between Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and University of Mauritius. The programme of the visit included mandarin, paper cutting, calligraphy classes, cultural activities, tours to museums and other cultural places. Participants were able to get a deeper understanding of China. As part of their cultural and educational activity, the participants were required to write a short essay and submit a few photos to express their experience of the visit to China.
