Training Course in Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture for Staff of LUX* Hospitality Ltd, Belle-Mare, Mauritius, Feb 2018

On 5th Feb 2018, the MQA approved training course entitled: “Mandarin Language & Chinese Culture” was launched at and hosted by LUX* Belle Mare. The training course is designed for staff of LUX* Resorts & Hotels Group and involved 20 participants.

The Mauritian Director of Confucius Institute at University of Mauritius, Mr Naraindra Kistamah, expressed his pleasure at the collaboration which brings together two partners, one from the business sector and another from academia. He thanked all those who have made this launch possible, in particular Mr Yang Daniel, Project Manager and his colleague, Mr Alex; Mrs Smita Modak, Group Training Manager, Mrs Annalie Ducasse of LUX* Training Academy and Mr Ashish Modak, General Manager of LUX* Belle-Mare, Mr Tan Xudong, Chinese Director of CI-UoM and the office of Pro-VC (Planning & Resources) of the University of Mauritius.

China is one of the world’s fastest growing economies and as the world goes more global, Chinese literacy becomes important for sound business and economic environment. CI-UoM wish to extend its support to the business sector, and work with professionals from the tourism sector for mutual growth. It is understood that LUX* Resorts & Hotels Group is expanding its business operation internationally and China is one of the places where LUX* Cafe and LUX* hotel are now present.

The Pro-VC of Planning & Resources at the University of Mauritius, Mr Mohammad Issack Santally, thanked CI-UoM and LUX* Hospitality Ltd for the great initiative and looks forward to more collaborations with industry. He also expressed the desire of the UoM to support collaborations with the tourism sector, a strong pillar of the economy, for mutual benefit and growth.

Mr Ashish Modak, Managing Director at LUX* Belle-Mare, spoke of the growing number of Chinese travelers worldwide and how the training programme would help support LUX* Hospitality Ltd in its perpetual drive to be more receptive and responsive to the demands and expectations of its clients, and in this case travelers from China and its territories.
