Translation Work of Anthology by the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius

The Confucius Institute has successfully completed an exceptional translation project for the University of Mauritius, rendering a diverse anthology of poems from English into Chinese. Featuring contributions from authors across Mauritius, and other parts of the world, the collection embodies a vibrant fusion of literary voices and cultures. This work fosters academic exchange and cross-border literary appreciation. The work is edited by a PhD candidate from the University of Mauritius, Ms Anoucheka Sweety Gangabissoon, who is also one of the contributing poets. The project reflects both scholarly dedication and artistic expression. To ensure linguistic precision and cultural authenticity, the Confucius Institute collaborated with students specializing in translation studies at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Hangzhou, China. This anthology, published by Inkdew Publications based in India, carries profound significance for its editor, who sought to pay tribute to the island of Mauritius—an island, in her words, "caught in a dream." Through this collection, she honors the ancestors who shaped the island’s identity, weaving their legacy into the tapestry of poetic expression. This work stands as a testament to global collaboration, bridging languages, cultures, and histories through the profound beauty of poetry.
