Welcome to the Faculty of Law & Management
Following the financial crisis, reduced public funding, increasing competition in the tertiary education sector and Government policy for free education as from 2019, the Faculty of Law and Management reviewed its programmes with a view to better addressing the needs of the market.
Our objective is to enhance excellence in teaching and research, internationalise the image of the University, enrich student experience and broaden community engagement. Through our programmes of study—Management, Law, Finance & Accounting—we aim at imparting learning to our students to equip them with the skills they need to either secure a meaningful profession or undertake further studies. The accreditation of our Accounting and Finance programmes by international professional accounting bodies, like the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, promotes the quality and standard of our programs well beyond the national shores of Mauritius. Most undergraduate programmes require compulsory industry placements, which gives our students a privileged insight into the world of work. Through work placements students develop soft skills like self-development, team work, communication skills, people management skills and human relations skills.
Over the years, FLM staff worked hard on accomplishing research and financial sustainability goals. Our aim is to reinforce and sustain a pervasive commitment to a new culture so that our activities, from teaching and learning to our commitment toward business, government and the wider community be research-driven.
