Department of Finance & Accounting

 The department of Finance and Accounting is one of the most burgeoning department at the University and aims towards excellence in teaching and learning, reach-out and also research. It comprises of around 18 full time academic staff and although it is relatively young, the department has already embarked itself in research related activities including academic publications, organization of international conferences and capacity building workshops, research grants (MRC, IDRC, AERC, EU funding) and also research related consultancies (including assignments from UNDP, AdB, World Bank, MoFed, BOM among others). Staff of the department has a strong team spirit and they are engaged in a number of co-authored works and increasingly going interdisciplinary. The department also actually host the WCP chairs (WTO) and has also strong relationships and networking with both the local and international institutions, including among others, the BOM, Bourse Africa, MCCI, International Trade Division, Enterprise Mauritius, Board of Investment, University of Southampton, University of Johannesburg, University of Waikato, Boston School of Economics, HTW Berlin (DaaD network), IDRC , World Bank Office (Mauritius), WTO and UNCTAD. The DFA aspires to be one of the leading departments to drive rigorous research and consultancies in the field.
