Welcome to the Department of History and Political Science,

The Department of History and Political Science offers undergraduate programmes in (i) History and Sociology, (ii) Politics, Human Rights and International Relations, and (iii) Politics and Public Administration. Our courses are designed to provide theoretical and analytical perspectives in various topics such as International History, Indian Ocean Societies, Comparative Government and Politics, International Institutions, Security in International Relations, Public International Law, African Politics, Human Rights and Civil Society, and Public Administration. The undergraduate courses will allow you to find employment in both public and private sectors including teaching, journalism, research, administration, public relations, diplomacy, regional/international organisations, and NGOs.

Our staffs work in collaboration with the students to ensure a proper adaptation and encourage their involvement in different activities organised by the department including talks, seminars, conferences, workshops and student placements.

Our staffs are highly engaged in research and have published widely in scholarly journals in their respective fields including History, Politics, International Relations, Indian Ocean Studies, Security Studies and Human Rights.
