Quality Assurance Office
With the increasing importance of quality in Higher Education and the role assigned to Quality Assurance in the University’s Strategic Plan to be a leading International University, a Quality Assurance Office was set up in October 2002, which implemented the Quality Assurance Framework covering Programme Design, Review, Monitoring and Quality Enhancement. The Quality Assurance Office also has oversight of the UoM Regulations for Undergraduate and Post Graduate Programmes as well as their updates, which form part of the academic and administrative enhancement of the Quality Assurance Framework. After more than fifteen (15) years of implementation of the Quality Assurance Framework and three (3) External Audits (in Years 2005, 2012 and 2018), the Quality Assurance Office continues to align with the Institutional Vision and Mission, Strategies and with Recommendations of Teaching and Research Committee, Senate and of the External Audits. In a spirit of continuous improvement, it has broadened its Scope and Goals to address emerging challenges geared to promote World-Class Teaching and Learning and to keep abreast with International trends of Quality Assurance in Higher Education.
The Quality Assurance Office falls under the purview of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academia) and comprises a team led by the Director,
Dr (Ms.) F Khodabocus who is supported by Mrs. T D Deal, Administrative Officer, Ms. S Chiniah, Quality Assurance Officer, Mrs. S Nundloll, Confidential Secretary and Ms. A Aukhjee, Executive Assistant.
The Office is presently situated on the 6th floor of Academic Complex Tower Block, University of Mauritius.
The main role of the Director, Quality Assurance, is to:
- Provide Leadership for Quality Assurance and Good Practice at the University;
- Lead the Development and Implementation of a University-wise basis Policy in Quality Assurance;
- Lead, Co-ordinate and Support Quality Assurance and the Enhancement Management System across the University;
- Contribute to the Identification, Development and Promotion of the University's Aims and Objectives in the Strategic Directions; and
- Contribute to the Formulation and Implementation of the University's Quality Assurance and Enhancement Policies and Practices by monitoring the same across the University and in Collaborative Partner Institutions, where appropriate.
