Promote sound financial governance and compliance across the University.

Provide strategic financial advice to support academic and administrative planning.

Deliver timely, accurate, and transparent financial reporting.

Optimize resource allocation for institutional efficiency and sustainability.

To advise the Vice-Chancellor and other Senior Management officers with regard to financial matters.

Increase transparency of income and full costs of activities across the University.

Maintain and improve the financial systems and processes such that they are easy to access quickly and efficiently.

Develop a culture of customer service and support to continually improve the provision of financial advice to senior management.

To prepare an Annual Budget and financial forecasts.

Setting financial performance targets for departments and the university as a whole(Budgets, ad hoc benchmarking).

Liason with Deans of Faculty, Officer-in-Charge, Directors of Centre, Heads of Department to ensure constant feedback on financial matters.

Manage University budgeting, forecasting and expenditure control.

Process payroll and maintain staff financial records.

Handle accounts payable, receivable, and vendor transactions.

Ensure compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements.

Support procurement activities in line with University policies.

Coordinate financial training and support for departments and staff.

Cash flow management, preparation of budgets, financial forecasts and monitoring.

Preparation of the University's financial statements and annual statutory accounts.

Returns for various statutory bodies (Tax return to Mauritius Revenue Authority, Remittance of Pension).

Research projects costing and monitoring

Insurance matters and processing payments.

Maintenance of Fixed Assets Register

Financial Reporting and production of monthly and quarterly management accounts.
